Holy Freaking Doppelganger! From beginning to end, TVD’s 100th episode: “500 Years of Solitude” was packed with hilarity, surprise visits, and heartwrenching drama! Where do we start? Here goes!
We laughed at Katherine’s blase reaction to overhearing people toast her impending doom. We yelled bloody murder at our screens when Nadia revealed that she kidnapped Matty Blue Eyes and dumped his unconscious body in the steel vault from the quarry (and of course we cheered when Rebekah saved him). We cringed each time Damon psychologically tortured Katherine on her deathbed — but enjoyed seeing him take on the guise of familiar faces such as Aunt Jenna and Uncle John’s. We cried when Stefan infiltrated Katherine’s memories and consoled her by telling her she was a frightened 17-year-old girl and should not be blamed for Klaus murdering her family. Speaking of Klaus, the naughty hybrid popped up in town and Caroline pretty much jumped his bones in the middle of the woods — only to return to the Salvatore boarding house hours later plucking dead leaves from her hair. Moreover, we released the biggest “Whoop Whoop!” of our lives when the ghosts of Vicki Donovan and Alaric Saltzman popped up at the end. But hold the front door, guys — that twist ending was impeccable and such a classic Katerina Petrova moment. Tricking Elena into feeling bad for her and then having the huevos to become a passenger in her body? Katherine Pierce is a survivor — everyone should have listened to Damon and seen that coming from miles away!
